Last Friday I was at home during the day thinking about the fact that Jeff and I haven't really started a home improvement project in a long time; with his fall and recovery and the holidays, there just hasn't been time. So I started thinking...if I could change one small thing about the house, what would it be? Then it hit me...I would change out the light over our kitchen table. The light is ugly and is builder's grade; plus, I think everyone in the entire neighborhood has the same light, so that alone is a reason to get rid of it. :-)
I thought the hardest part would be talking Jeff into changing the light out (which turned out not to be so hard at all, with a little coaxing); little did I know that choosing a new light would give me such a struggle. I am so stubborn and knew what I wanted...unfortunately, that was a combination of two different lights! After a little help and some great ingenuity by a Lowe's worker, I merged my two ideas together into the perfect light fixture for our kitchen.
After some hard work by Jeff to switch out the lights (he scared the hell out of me at times on a step-stool with a healing hip) and me getting a fair amount of exercise running up and down the basement stairs to turn the power on and off, the new light is up and functional. And I love it!
