A Trip to Snowbird and Alta

After the aviary and driving around downtown to show everyone landmarks in the city, we decided to drive up to Snowbird so that everyone could see the ski resort. Now, I must start out this blog by saying that this was quite a big step for my mom...she hates snow and, even though she grew up in St. Louis, her blood has thinned in Florida and she just can't take the cold anymore. If it is cooler than about 70 degrees, she is running for the heavy jacket, gloves and ear muffs! But, she was willing to brave it, so we headed up the canyon. The views were amazing and we pulled off the road numerous times to take pictures...

The air was crisp and clean and the runoff coming off the moutains was incredible. Jeff and I have been up there many times and never have we seen the water moving that fast. I guess that is what over 700 inches of snow does when it melts! My mom found a big rock and wanted everyone to sit on it and get their picture taken...

We toured the ski lodge and then drove to Alta...it was just as gorgeous and people were still on the slopes skiing, although they were mostly in short sleeved shirts. Still, my mom was chilly; but she was a trooper and braved it for the beautiful scenery. Thanks mom!
