Wednesday- The Blue Owl Restaurant and Exploring Kimmswick

On Wednesday, we decided to head to a small town called Kimmswick to check out their historic shopping district (something I am always up for :-)).  We also wanted to check out the Blue Owl Restaurant for lunch, which was featured on the Food Network.  We all loaded up and headed out for the 30 minute drive to Kimmswick.  The town itself is really neat...it reminded me a lot of Gardner Village in Utah, but with a ton more shops.  For all of those who do not know about Gardner Village, Kimmswick is composed of all of these tiny, historic homes that have been turned into eclectic stores.  They line the streets of the town and is well known for shopping in this part of Missouri.

We started out by looking at a couple of shops while we were waiting for our lunch reservations at the Blue Owl.  Everyone who knew that we were headed to Kimmswick told us that we just HAD to eat at the Blue Owl Restaurant.  It is so popular that it has been on the Travel Channel as one of the best restaurants.

Lunch at the Blue Owl did not disappoint.  The food was delicious and we all got to sit at this huge round table with a big lazy susan in the center.  Here are some pictures of all of us during lunch...

My aunt Mary, aunt Nettie, David and my cousin Emily...

My grandpa, Mary Ryan (his lady friend), uncle Jeff and aunt Mickey...

My mom and Mike...

Me and Jeff...

Jim being silly (like normal)...

The cute couple...

Sibling love (about as good as it gets in my family)...

My cousins Emily and Jessica...

After lunch, we hung out outside the restaurant waiting for everyone to decide what they were going to do...I already knew what was on my agenda for the afternoon...SHOPPING!

Shopping in Kimmswick was so much fun, which could have been due to the cute, boutique-y stuff or the fact that I was with my mom and I absolutely adore shopping with my momma.  Needless to say, we managed to do some damage on our own while Mike, Jeff, and Jim found a place where they could hang out and drink beer...win win for everyone in my opinion!

While shopping, I scored some great boutique clothes and an awesome antique bracelet.  My mom also stocked up on a ton of good stuff...so much stuff that she was worried about how she was going to get it all home on the plane!  After we were done shopping, we headed over to the place where the guys were to have some drinks.  As we were hanging, a couple of my aunts and cousins stopped by, so we all just sat outside in a gazebo, drank (at least those of us that were of legal age), and had a good ole time.  Here are some pictures taken during all the fun...a couple of these pictures show my cousin Jessica drinking what appears to be a beer; fear not, people, it is only root beer that looks like beer.  Made for fun times when we showed her mom later that night. Hahaha

Ahh, thanks for the fond memories, Kimmswick!
